We understand the importance of starting a relationship with Jesus at a young age. This sets the foundation for lives built on the Rock–Jesus Christ. The goal of our Sunday School program is for our preschoolers to grow in God’s love and to participate more fully in the beauty of the Mass.
During the first half of the 9:00 and 11:00 Masses, the preschoolers gather to experience God’s Word. Each week we begin with music and the Gospel lesson. The children then break into small groups with trained catechists for a hands-on approach of the lesson. Children join their families in the church for the Liturgy of the Eucharist. (After the homily parents pick up their children in the foyer and bring them into the Mass.)
The children learn about the treasures of our faith at Sunday School. Some of these treasures include the liturgical colors and seasons, the tabernacle, the chalice, and the altar. When the children join their families for the Mass, they search for these treasures. If children know what is happening at Mass, it is easier for them to pay attention.
