Each year when one show closes, the process begins of what to do next year. I am always grateful that God provides us with a new direction. We have moved our traditional time of dinner theatre from November to February. The goal was that we would perform before Lent begins. What perfect timing for a Mardi Gras theme. We have enjoyed learning and singing jazz music this year, which is a tradition in the Mardi Gras celebration. The challenge becomes to put together the right songs and groups to make our show come alive. The cast rehearses once a week for 7 weeks, then tech week, and here we are on the stage.
Mary Jo and I have worked together for the past 12 years to create a story to present. Rod Sparks along with some of the cast have built incredible sets each year, and we are blessed with cast and friends who spend countless hours painting, finding props, costumes and this year the DRAGON which was led by the Merriman family, and watching others step up to do different parts of this was amazing.
Each cast member brings a unique role to the stage. Our goal is to help them build confidence in who they are and be proud to use the gifts that God gave them. Young and old, we all work together with hope of creating something unique, inspirational and enjoyable for the audience.
See you next time.
